As Lhasa to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake Tour starts from Tibet, you should have Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) permit. Travelling Tibet via China, you will need issue Chinese Tourist Visa. In case from Kathmandu, The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu issues only Group Paper Visa. A group visa is an official paper with the names and passport numbers of all the group members. In case of accommodation, you have to stay at guest houses in monasteries or tent. But, be aware that everything is very basic. And sometimes we can’t find a bed in the guest houses. There are some houses near monasteries with 3-4 beds in a room. You can also stay there. But the exciting part is you can do camping along trek in various sites. The nights are very cold near Mount Kailash. So, be prepared for this.

Please realize that you are trekking in the remotest part of Tibet. You can only get basic food. You can pack your favourite food from city like Lhasa or Shigatse. Normally, food there is Tibetan and typical Chinese. But you can buy instant noodles and Tibetan butter tea along the trek.

  • Day 02 :Sightseeing tour in Lhasa O/N at Hotel

    Lhasa sightseeing starts in the morning after having breakfast at a hotel. On 2nd Day, your guide takes you to three famous spots in Lhasa Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Bazaar.

    Potala Palace

    Potala Palace is the residence of the Dalai Lamas. It is one of the wonders of ancient architecture. Potala Palace is built at an altitude of 3,700 m, on the side of Ri Marpo ('Red Mountain'). Potala Palace is in two parts: the white and the red palace. The red palace is used by Dalai Lamas as a house of prayer. It has mausoleums of previous Dalai Lamas. Inside the palace, you can see an amazingly carved  stone and wood architecture. Devoted rural pilgrims, turning prayer wheels, light of Yak-butter candles makes your trip full of mistry. 

    Jokhang Temple

    Jokhang Temple is most admired religious temple in Tibet. Walk in Jokhang temple welcomes you by enchanting mantras and smell of yak butter. It is listed in the World Cultural Heritages with Potala Palace and surrounded by Barkhor Bazaar. The temple is built in the 7th century and represents the ancient civilization as well as past traditions. There is a saying that King of Tibet wants to build a Temple. He throws his ring to locate where to build the temple. The ring fell into a lake and a stupa emerged from the water. The temple at first was called Rasa and now Jokhang.

    Barkhor is the usual stop for travellers. It is a buddhist pilgrim circuit. It is one of the most famous places to go shopping in Lhasa and for local-made memento from Tibet.

     
  • Day 03 :Lhasa to Shigatse O/N at Hotel.

    Third day of Mount Kailash Tour, you can visit the world famous Shigatse. It is located high on a hilltop overlooking the busy town. Driving to Shigatse, you can drive over the Gampala pass (4790 m), and amazing Yamdrok-tso. The lake reflects the snow capped mountains that are in its surroundings. It adds a significant respect to Buddhism and strong cultural heritage for us. The main attraction here is Tashilhunpo Monastery which has golden roof in it. Tashilhunpo is the seat of the Panchen Lama, the second holy figure in Tibetan Buddhism after the Dalai Lama.

  • Day 04 :Shigatse to Saga O/N at Hotel.

    Saga is 280 KMs away from Shigatse and at an altitude of 4600m. We drive to Saga after having breakfast in Shigatse. We pass through a number of high passes and unique Tibetan Landscape. We can understand your feelings to capture such marvellous scenery. So we will freshen up and capture amazing vistas along the drive.

     
  • Day 05 :Saga to Mansarovar O/N at Guest House

    This is the main day of Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar Tour when our feet touches the holy Mansarovar. It's an amazing feeling getting there. Our excitement to to see first view of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar completes after long 460KM drive from saga. Sacred Mt Kailash takes hours of difficult walk to reach there. The climate is often cold. This walking around the mountain is known as a Kora, or Parikrama, and normally takes three days. We won’t be doing a Kora here. Another attraction is Manasarovar. Manosaravar means Lake of Consciousness and Enlightenment. It is also called as Lake of Demons.

  • Day 06 :Mansarovar to Guge Kingdom O/N at Guest House

    We drive to the historic Guge Kingdom from Mansarovar and stay overnight there. Along the ride, you can see piles of Mani Stones. Amazing views and landscapes make your drive memorable. Don’t worry, there are some stops to capture photos and freshen up.

     
  • Day 07 :Visit Guge Kingdom O/N at Guest House

    After a long drive from Mansarovar Lake and Mount Kailash, we move to Guge Kingdom. Guge Kingdom is proof of ancient civilization. The kingdom is piled up on the mountain slope at a height of 300 meters. On the slope you can see amazing palaces, caves, and monasteries. Unique Construction and Treasured Artworks are major attraction of Guge Kingdom.

     
  • Day 08 :Drive to Lake Manasarovar O/N at Guest House

    We drive back through the same way to the holiest Mansarovar Lake. We spend overnight at Guest House near the lake. It’s good to be around lake at night and enjoy night views. However, you can explore Lake the next day.

     
  • Day 09 :Full day in Lake Manasarovar Visit Chui Gompa and meditation- drive to Darchen in Late Afternoon O/N at Hotel

    9th day of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar Lake Tour is the exploration of Lake Mansarovar. The lake is also known as ‘The Jewel of Tibet’. Some people believe that foot on Mount Kailash gives us good fortune. We then visit Chui Gompa. Chiu Gompa Monastery is built on the cliff near the lake. It’s a great stop for pilgrims and enjoy the 8th century history. We can do meditation here. In late afternoon, we drive to Darchen.

     
  • Day 10 :Darchen to Derapuk O/N at Guest House

    Derapurk is a monastery. To reach here, we firstly walk 3 hours to Barkha plain enjoying the mesmerizing mountain views of Gurla Mandhata and Api Himal. Through fraying stones and flags we go to barren Lhach Valley to Tarboche, important sites for Tibet’s important festival – Saga Dawa. From here you can enjoy majestic Mount Kailash clearly. After some trek we reach Chuku monastery. The monastery was built in the 13th Century. The monastery keeps several halidoms – Buddha statue, copper pot and elephant tusks. Finally, we reach Darchen and spend the night at Guest House.

     
  • Day 11 :Derapuk to Zutulpuk O/N at Guest House

    Today you climb up to Dolma-la (5613m) and descend gradually to Zuthulphuk(4760m). This is the most difficult day in whole tour. Dolma-la is the holiest place and famous for meditation to be away from so called “Moha Maya” (eternity). In late afternoon you reach Zutulpuk. 

     
  • Day 12 :Zutulpuk to Darchen to Saga O/N at Guest House

    From Zutulpuk we go back to Darchen through Saga. We feel spiritually satisfied. 

     
  • Day 13 :Saga to Kerong O/N at Hotel

    We drive to Kerong from Saga. During the drive you can see breathtaking views from Lalung La (5200m). We then pass through amazing turquoise lake, the Peiku-Tso with spectacular views of Shishapangma. Our scenic drive is along Brahmaputra River. Finally we will spend the night at Hotel in Kerong.

     
  • Day 14 :Kerong to Kathmandu

    After necessary border formalities, we drive to Kathmandu. It is a very long and scenic drive to Kathmandu. There are some stops where we will have food and capture some pics. We will celebrate the end of Mount Kailash Tour.
